What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a powerful yet natural system of health care. Osteopathy uses hands-on treatment to detect and correct strains within the body, penetrating deep down and eliminating pain and discomfort.

Osteopathy Brook Green West LondonOsteopaths are mechanics to the human machine. Similar to a car, we rely on all parts of the body working well; when this is not the case, the machine is affected and wear and tear can follow. Fundamentally, if the joints and muscles are restricted, or the nerves or arteries are impeded, Osteopaths will free them so that normal function returns. When the bolts or joints are weak, Osteopaths will prescribe exercise to strengthen them. If the fuel being used, e.g. nutrition or allergens, is not suitable, Osteopathy identifies and advises accordingly. If the machine is being driven too fast and is under stress, the Osteopath corrects its effects and brings its miss-use to your attention. If the machine is being used incorrectly and its time to let go of habits that are placing an asymmetrical load on the body, Osteopaths restore balance.

Targetting pain

Osteopathy targets the pain. By combining their extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and western medicine with their highly trained sense of palpation (touch). Osteopaths ‘read’ and trace the problem to the root cause and tailor the treatment specifically to the individual - providing lasting relief and reducing the likelihood of recurrence.

Osteopathy Testimonial Star Image

"I wanted to let you know that your treatments have been extremely helpful to me and without them I would not be able to cope with the pain in my joints. After a visit to you I feel rejuvenated and able to cope with day to day tasks that are otherwise very difficult. You have a magic touch’."

Facilitating our bodies self-repair mechanism

Osteopathy facilitates our bodies self-repair mechanism. Osteopathy utilises the restorative and self-repairing mechanism of the body – we find it, fix it and allow the body to restore health. We work with the body. This way, patients leave our treatments feeling at ease, relaxed and on their way to full recovery. Patients do not leave our treatments feeling sore or like they have been pushed and pulled around.
